To start a VFR750, first turn ignition on, then apply a little choke -
that's the little lever on the left switchgear - and only then should
you try starting a bike that has sat for 6 months...you fucking muppet
    :)

  4. He's an academic, you don't expect him to know about such things, do
    you?

You can go right off some people. In my defence, I remembered
    everything else.

I got it down to a local shop (CT in Bridport, fine chaps) who managed
to squeeze me in for a failed MOT. I knew the front tyre was gone but
they had to do the head bearings and the rear brake pads as well. All
of the work was accompanied by nice words about the condition of the
machine and, when I collected at the end of the day, they said nice
things about the amount I had paid for it.

It runs nicely, will take a little getting used to after the Pan
Galactic Paraffin Gargler and gave me a pleasant trip back up to Bath.

It is. I've just taken it from Bath to Derby via Farnborough and it's
running nicely. There seems to be an issue with the front disc, but
otherwise all is well. It feels strange after the Pan though: the
sensation of lean is not nearly as strong.

Good call. One of the lovliest looking bikes made and it hasn't dated
    IMHO.

Shame you can't sniff the seat, what with Lozzo having used it and all.

The mechanics doing the MOT cooed over it. I'm just wondering where to
put the tricolour stickers to set off the pure white fairing.
