  1. I have been trying, with no great urgency, to source a second leather
flying-helmet and goggles, for reasons which will shortly become apparent on
ukrm. I have a rather wonderful Biggles hat already, which is very
different from those showing up on Ebay. Whereas the C-type has ugly open
earholes for 'phones, mine has leather, brass-zipped covers to hold them in
place. It is an authentic garment, with the doeskin lining and velvet
bands at chin and forehead, and in fabulous condition. Given the
sophistication, I suspect that it's probably post-WW2. Can anyone identify?

Slightly shocked by the prices on Ebay, which are in the £100-180 range.
Mine cost the then daunting sum of 10 shillings in 1971.

  3. Thanks, but I've 'done' the goggles, although I see that they sell repro
flying-hats at a very sharp price. I'm mainly intrigued by what vintage my
    old hat is.
