    Ebay item 300364112935

What's wrong here? I'd have expected a Nikon D3000 body to have a
reserve on it or a hefty SP, especially from a trader. Fake page?
Doesn't look like a hijacked account. Thoughts, anyone?

My guess is that in error the reserve just hasn't been set. A D3000
body only can be had for £330 new.

No doubt some people will think the seller's trying to scam someone
    with it .. ;)

When I was selling PCs on ebay, stuff found its own price and there was
    no real need for reserves.

I guess that most consumer electronics will be similar, there's a price
it tends to reach +/- a few quid.

Looks like the seller wants to see what a start price of £1 will do.

Looking at his completed listings shows that he has got good prices from
    doing so previously.

Yup, looks that way. I'm trying to score a used Nikon DSLR outfit for
    Number One Son's birthday - D50, 60, 70 and a couple of lenses: that
sort of thing. I was just outbid on a D70 kit recently. You haven't
    got anything, have you?

No Nikon stuff. I only do Canon.

No digital bodies atm, just 3 film bodies and a handful of lenses.

It's a New York State trader selling split kits, refurb etc. so I'm
guessing you shouldn't expect too much from them when it comes to
quality of goods or service. I don't think that sellers who list high
value items with low start and no reserve are necessarily dodgy - if
it's a high demand item it should find the market value pretty reliably.

Probably because trackable post is the only method that paypal will
    accept as proff of delivery.

He does seem to be selling a lot of Canon Rebels. Are they not US market
    models?

Probably nothing. I nearly always start with £1.00 and no reserve, even for
high-value items. That way you tend to get lots more bidders and a better
chance of a last-minute bidding war. It works the other way as well - I can
think of times when I have ended up bidding a bit more than I originally
intended because the auction was about to close and I had just been outbid
    on my original max.

That's where they hold stock for EU distribution, but I'm
fairly confident that it's not where they run the account from.

Yeah, the Rebel is the US name.

Looks like Mr Morley could be right.

I can think of a couple of reasons.

1, They work from home and don't was wazzocks calling out of hours,

2, They charge for postage at somewhat above postage cost.
