try with your own setup (but then, the BlackBox/Meridian setup may have
tarnished my hearing by now as your amp & speakers may well suit
Cyrus better IMO.

Yes, we're both thinking of the same system.

Now if my recollection's right, when transplanted into my system all of
the components individually did the forward bass and treble thing (if
only a little), so when added together it was all a bit much.

I don't recall that the CD was totally innocent. Or more importantly, I
don't recall that the CD was an ideal match for the rest of my system IYSWIM
