Any idea if the Milwaukee tractor specialist in Rye is actually any
good and if they do MOTs as well?

This lot? <http://www.vtwinuk.com/> I popped in to say hi shortly after
they opened and was not particularly whelmed. In fact I have only bought
    chain lube from them.

    As for MOT, nope.

There used to be a bike MOT place on the Rye Harbour Road, but it has
    closed, now.

I have use these people for MOTs a few years ago: (they are quite near to
you too, though I have no idea if they are still there).

Hmm. Not good. I'd need someone to check over the tractor due to some
running problems that suggest an air leak I don't seem to be able to
find/fix. I've already done the usual intake gaskets that always go, but
that didn't fix the problem. So it's either those guys or the HD dealer
in Canterbury who tends to have a long waiting list.
Arse, this is looking very much like the HD dealer in Canterbury then as
I need a "Harley friendly" MOT place unless I want to swap the fucking
    cans on the bike *again*.
I've heard the name mentioned before by some old bloke who had his car
MOT'd the same time I did and saw me reading some ShiteOldBike rag. He
did mention either Bethersden or Biddenden...

Actually, they still have a webshite, so it may be worth a try. Given
that I might need a friendly MOT tester for the Laverda as well, even
    though it's pre-85 and doesn't need silencers. I SAID IT DOESN'T NEED
    SILENCERS!

Well they may be competent at spannering John Dere's finest. I have no
experience of them nor their work in this regard so am not going to
    recommend them IYSWIM.
Nice blokes once you find them.

Just a thought - are there any independent specialists that could help? -
there often seem to be lots of people in the upside-down head world who do
    nothing but agricultural kit.

Guess I'll give them a bell and see what they have to say.
Another bunch of blokes to ring then.

The place in Rye is one of them, which was the reason for me to ask
prawn about them. I'd like to have the Hardley as a backup plan for
Chimay if I can't get the Laverda done and MOT'd in time, but the local
HD dealer is more in tune with the modern FI'd stuff and I don't really
want to risk riding it to London to get Warrs to look at it.

So a fairly local place that scores the expected numbers in the
teeth/tattoo ratio would come in handy.

Thanks, I'll add them to the list of people to speak to. I'd rather go
to Rye (it's closer) with a suspected intake air leak but the bike
should make Maidstone without a major blow-up. I think.

Well, I did drop off the tractor with them as I wasn't 100% sure it was
running right after my intake surgery on it. Apart from muppet here
forgetting to adjust the idle, it was pronounced healthy.

And they do have a tame MOT man who is supposedly not overly bothered by
exhausts that have the Daily Maul readers frothing at the mouth, so it's
got a new MOT as well now.
