As my car's now 10 years old can I have my COSOC# back, please? Or are
    lists beyond passé now?

Heh. I think there was something about the value of the car in there,
    too - so a Coupe 20vT wouldn't qualify anyway....

But I think the lists thing has had it's day.

You're joking, right? Have you seen what 20VTs go for these days? Mine -
    1998 5-speed, tan leather, 70k miles, air-con - would struggle to fetch
    £1,200
    That's a shame, I liked the lists and now I'll never get a YTC# or a BHaLC#
    (or a FBC#, obviously)

  4. It would?

Blimey, that's one of the few fast(ish) cars I've driven. And the one I
drove was exactly the same colour as my Ducati....

    Hmmm, I'd disagree.

You may get a shitty one for that money, or one, like AndrewRs that's
due the 'how fucking much?' cambelt change.

But a good one, with a recent belt change, would sell for double that.

    £2,500 is top whack for a 5-speed.

This one, for example, is far, far nicer than mine ...

    http://www.fccuk.org/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=510193#Post510193

Mine badly needs a respray - to be fair it needed a respray when I bought it
and its picked up a couple of little dings during its time with me (none of
them my fault, BTW, unless you count parking it in public places) and its
got a leak in the air-con which I was going to fix in August, but I bought a
    new bike instead.

Its not actually due the belt change though, because it had it done at 50k
miles ... although it would probably be best to err on the side of caution
    and have it done anyway.

That has a lot of miles on it - I'm not sure I'd be 100% happy with one
    that has over 100k miles.

You're in the right ball-park for a decent one at £2.5k, though.
Ahhh, that does make a difference - I still say you're under-valuing it
    by a fair bit.
Nah, that should be fine for a while longer - the 5-pot belts don't tend
to let go early. I was just assuming yours was due one, as the handbook
shows them due at 72k miles.

The experience of the owner's club is that the care taken of the car is far
more important than the mileage. Besides, the sub-100k ones are getting
hard to come by these days.
Not an issue as I'm not selling it and not getting my COSOC# back, either.

You can have my FBC number if you want. All you have to do is catch me
on a flying lap of any race circuit and ask for it.

    ****.

I see you're going on the next TOG trip, will you be using that old
748 of yours or are you planning on borrowing a sports bike?

I don't think you're Mr Richardson so you weren't being offered that
number. He's had his chance when he was on his prilly and I was on my
wanky old BM and he still wasn't in sight.

Yes, I'll be on the tractor. It's being whisked away to have some
more bling fitted this week. I'll try not to crash it before the
    TOG trip.

  17. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique,
    A whole lap?

I could be tempted to take that bet.

As long as he doesn't ride like the road's his own personal racetrack
    he should be OK.

Indeed. Still, only 18 months later and I'm now once again able[1] to
treat the mountain like it's my own personal playground.

[1] Still not 100% fit, but a damn site closer after 24 days' skiing
