    I haven't lost my mind, it's
backed up to a floppy disc
    that's around here somewhere.

  2. I know. I mean, how many times have you known a Kawasaki speedo to fail?

The speedos themselves, no. But I recall the old air-cooled bikes
having a prediliction for eating cables. Or unscrewing them from
either end. Or eating the speedo drive gearbox if you didn't put the
    front wheel in quite right.

    <raises hand>

The GT's failed once. Actually, it was just the cable had snapped.

I only noticed because it also meant that the
    auto-annoyingly-quickly-cancelling indicators stopped
    annoyingly-quickly-cancelling.

Had that on the 7R. Watched it drop from 160 to zero and found the cable
trailing underneath the bike, most of the way to the rear wheel.

It wasn't air cooled, either. Not at that point, anyway.

Well you'd have thought so if the bike was only 10 minutes old when it
    went wrong.

  7. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Bear
    ^^^^^^^^^

    You keep doing this.

    It's "warranty", OK?

A warrantee is a person to whom a warrant is given.

I haven't got time to drive up there and beat you roughly every time you
do it, so give yourself a slap from me, would you?

    Thanks.

Champ scribbled on the back of a napkin:
Well, I had already checked that - cable was a bit loose, so I
tightened it at the wheel end. Pushing it around the underground
carpark at work (where it lowers the tone quite considerably) showed
that the cable is turning at the speedo end, hence my suspicion of a
    borked speedo.
