looks like a sparrow hawk - white flashes on the side of the head and the
    size are indicative

Bloody pigeons - yesterday one tried to fly through Bracknell with a
    Nissan Qashqai attached.
    Yes, it's definitely a Sparrowhawk.

Sparrowhawk it is. Unlike the video, this one didn't hang around to
finish off the deed so it was left up to me.

Heh, I wouldn't worry about the pigeon, I killed it after the
    sparrowhawk had its fun.
    Good stuff.

I must put some seed out for more pigeons and get my video camera ready
    :)

  10. Definitely a Sparrowhawk.

I had a similar visitor feasting on a Collared Dove in October:
    http://tinyurl.com/yzknumh

More recently, I caught sight of it (or another) with a Wood Pigeon in
it's feet, flying very quickly towards my windows (big floor to ceiling
wall to wall jobbies). It let go of the pigeon at the last minute and
diverted itself in a different direction, letting the pigeon slam head
first into the glass hard enough to make me jump, even though I knew it
    was about to happen.

It came back and collected the dazed pigeon a few minutes later.
