My K75S is up for some new shoes. Any recommendations? I think it currently
has a set of Metzler Laser on it. What do people here like/recommend/warn
    against?

    PeterT fumbled, fiddled and fingered:
    Avon Azaro 110/80ZR18 ST45 front & 140/80ZR17 ST46 Rear without a doubt
the best tyres I've ever had on my K-RS and as far as I recall the K75S
has the same size wheels as the K100RS.

You will not be disappointed with them!

I don't have much experience with the K75S but my old K100RT was transformed
by Azaros. They worked so well for my old FJ1100, I thought I'd give them a
try and the difference was even more marked on the BMW.

I've found (over about 60k miles) that the BT45s are very good *until*
they start to square off and then they are a bit shit. They also crack
on the front tyre quite alarmingly. I really suspect the K100 is too
heavy for them. Mileage is a bit shit too for a commuter; around 5k
miles for a rear and 12k for a front.

    The Metzeller's (ME33 / ME99) I've tried and haven't been impressed by.

I think the Azaros are radials and aren't suitable for some rims
(allegedly). In any case I haven't tried them.

I'm currently trying out some Pirellis (on my K100 RT) which *seem*
quite good. I can't really bring myself to describe them by their
name... "Sport Demon". They don't seem to have much less grip than the
BT45 but they (at the moment) seem to behave better when worn (am on my
second rear tyre) and seem to have longer life (but I haven't really
tried one from new to 'used')

Please note- this doesn't mean I'm buying second hand tyres.. it's just
that when the BT45s wore out I took the wheels off my 'parts bike' which
had part worn Pirellis on them.

In summary, if you want a half decent tyre then you won't go wrong with
    the BT45. YMMV...

This is my experience with BT45s and the Moto Guzzi, although the Guzzi
is a bit lighter (with similar sized tyres) than the BMW it gets through
    a pair in 8K front, 4K rear.

It also ends up with an odd saw tooth effect on the front tread, don't
    know why.

When they square off they do so very quickly but are ridable, just, down
    to below 1mm.

    Nor me.

I had a pair of Pirelli Phantoms once. Shit.

IME Michelin aren't as bad as their reputation would have it and
Continentals are very good but BT45s are better VFM for me.

  6. Azaros seem to work well with BMW's generally. I put a set of them on
my R1150RT when the front O.E. Michelin picked up a nail, and stayed
with Azaros for the remainder of the bike's time with me. Excellent
mileage, good grip in the wet and dry and excellent stability even when
    traversing white lines.

I had AV45/46s on my last ZZR1100. I loved the stability, grip and feel
and they had the added bonus of lasting forever. Simes is the man who
put me on to them, he gets about 12-14K out of a front and 10K out of a
    rear on his Pan Euro.
