    Bizzare though it seems, until you consider the level of UK debt to GDP and
    the trading of oil in Euro.

    Gordon may be wishing he had retired too.

  2. I bet he wishes he hadn't sold our gold reserves and bought dollars with
    them, just before it crashed.

    I never understood why he did that

    in fact I thought at the time that it was either a crazy idea or he was
    following the David Icke manual of how to become a lizard in the lower
    4th dimension

    Does that mean the Higgs Boson is going to remain elusive too?

  8. Given the problems I'm having getting our Grid User Interface
    rebuilt, yes!

    Which brain the size of a planet came up with GUI, then? Thet's going to
    cause a little confusion!

  12. To be fair, it's usually called the UI, but it is for submitting jobs
    to the Grid.

  13. Anything I find down the back of the sofa probably belongs to Andy.
    I don't think it'd have the solution to:
    wrong format: ['Traceback (most recent call last):\n',
    ' File "/tmp/eesridr_glitecoll_tmp_submit_1-25971", line 110, in ?\n
    from wmproxymethods import Wmproxy\n',
    ' File "/opt/glite/lib/python/wmproxymethods.py", line 6, in ?\n
    from WMPClient import WMPSOAPProxy\n',
    ' File "/opt/glite/lib/python/WMPClient.py", line 20, in ?\n
    from SOAPpy.Parser import parseSOAPRPC\n',
    'ImportError: cannot import name parseSOAPRPC\n']

    I may have to learn more python... (AFAICT parseSOAPRPC is defined
    in SOAPpy/Parser.py[c])

  14. I was reliably informed that for the UK's input for the first Gulf war
    the RAF had a problem getting a full squadron of Tornado aircraft
    together. So they selected the aircraft that had the best maintenance
    and reliability record to form a combined squadron to support the "UN"
    push to get the Iraqis out of Kuwait. Some wit gave it the title of 'The
    Combined United Nation Tornado Squadron'. Which was only changed when
    the squadron flew out and some one 'up top' realised what the acronym
    was.

    It could be an RAF tale but it made me laugh when I first heard it.

    The similar "City University of Newcastle upon Tyne" story is meant to
    be true, but I can't find a reliable source.

  18. Well, I've seen The Flinders University Choral Society, and there
    were lots of other clubs there starting with C. I used to have a sign for
    cheering Intervarsity sport in Canberra, "Up the ANUs!"

  19. Grrr... A known bug; parseSOAPRFC imports fpconst but in the
    distribution that's in its own directory that's not appended to PYTHONPATH.
    The traceback was truncated.
