That's the main effect it seems to have on most - the weekend after
9/11 (in which the firm I worked for at the time lost 300+ staff on
that day, including people I knew well, as we had offices in both
towers and plane #1 went straight through our floors) I was heading to
Charles de Gaulle airport on the Sunday evening but got stuck in
traffic and arrived just too late to get the flight, the last of the
evening. The staff said that a week earlier they'd probably have got
me on it, but in the new security situation it was impossible.
Ranting ensued, but not at the airline staff.

That bloke deserves all the praise he's getting. Everybody should be
buying him a pint rather than just aiming for 1,000 in behind the bar
    for him.

It's just taken me 4 1/2 hours to do the 35 (ish) mile journey home from
the City, ending with the mrs driving in to Chiswick to pick me up in
the car, courtesy of a lightning strike on the signals at Southall.

These terrorists have **** all on Mother Nature.

On Sept 12th 2001 I flew from Heathrow to Funchal, Madeira. There were
absolutely no problems at the airport, but the football match I went to
see was cancelled "as a mark of respect".

Oh, that winds me up. On the day they planted Diana I flew out of
Gatport Airwick to LA. They closed the fucking shops "as a mark of
respect". One brave bloke opened W.H.Smiths and damned near got killed
in the rush. I was the last one able to buy a paper before a jobsworth
"security" bloke forced him to shut.

Eleven hours on a plane with ****-all to read, and no crossword to do? I
    ask you.

    This is *appalling*!

I saw the picture of the bloke being pinned down by assorted plod in the
paper today, surveyed his singed hair and peeling skin, and thought:

"Does he not know that indoor smoking has been banned for quite some
    time in Scotland?"

I hope he lives for some considerable time.

Hard to get away with in tourist class. The blankets aren't really big

I was listening to R5 on the way home from work. They played an
interview of the father of one of the blokes that was arrested (one of
    the doctors, iirc).

Anyway, the father said 'I spoke to him last week. He said he was happy
in Britain and planned to "stay for a long time"'.

    Oh, how I chuckled.

Saying "**** that, I am *done* with flying in cattle class" has done it

I am *so* looking forward to our little jaunt to Jo'burg and Dubai in
