Say you had a 10am Monday-morning meeting at La Défense and overnight
accommodation wasn't on the cards [1], what's the sanest way to get
there? Eurostar looks impossible, flying means a 4.20am checking at LHR,
and last time I saw someone try to teleport they ended up spliced with a
    fly.

[1] why we don't have some way to cross-charge this shit to the punter
    I'll never know

Tell them to **** off and arrange the meeting for a sensible time, or
    pay for the hotel.

    Train @ 05:34
    Checkin @ 05:04
Earliest train to Waterloo arrives @ 05:24

I feel a "**** off with your 10am, I'll see you after lunch" may be in
    order.

10:00 am schedules setup by latin customers means "I am supposed to
arrive at 9:00 to the office, but will be late, and I want to read on-
line newspapers and my hotmail before dealing with you"

Go for that one, I worked out there for 6 months and all my colleagues were
up at crazy times every Monday to get to the office by 11am. I was out on
the piss in Paris Sunday nights with no-one to bother me the next morning
till 11. I had to go back for a meeting one Monday and got the 7am Eurostar
on Sunday. Arrived just in time for the World Cup rugby, got pissed,
    couldn't find my hotel.

    Those were the days.

Oddly enough, that's not a problem with my French colleagues. It's not
tolerated, and they don't do it.

When I was out there, everyone got in early for the pre-work coffee ... had
to be in at 8am rather than stay in bed.
