I have a friend who is involved with this project:

    http://www.radioactiveathome.org/

Basically a Seti-type program to measure and map background
radiation levels across the world using volunteers PCs

He needs an EEPROM programmer board compatible with the
    ATtiny2313 8-bit chip.

Anyone have such a device gathering dust or know of a cheap
UK source for such a beast?

  2. You don't have to do that shit if you are worried about dying in horrible
pain and agony from catching radiation or be at all concerned about your
heirs being any more horribly deformed than normal unirradiated genetic
inheritance has in store for them. Just listen to the press releases from
Those Who Know What Is Best For Us and multiply the lie^H^H^Hfigures they
give by one tenth of the merkin national debt and treat it as a gross
    understatement.

I have a universal EPROM programmer gathering dust in the lockup.
I know that it also supports some processors, I will dig out
the fine manual and see what it says.

I recently bought a USBTIny from the US. Cost about $20 in all and was
    easy to set up:

Programming chips with a windows interface is a nightmare mind. I ended up
    using a proper linux interface.

He's got one UK sourced for £12, thanks anyway.
He is a) Polish, b) a member of Polish BOINC society

Why would you think he was not a Linux geek also?

Post the link for the UK sourced one, my curiosity has been piqued.
