Paging the French residents - permanently exporting a bike from France

I've decided to bring the faux WR250 back from the October half term
trip to 'the chateau'. Despite having a French registration number there
is no chance of me registering it in the UK. Though I suppose it would
be exempt from type approval or MSVA because it is an enduro there would
be just too much work to get an MoT for it. So it is going to get the
supermoto treatment and be campaigned on the hills next season. That
means both dad and lad will be on YZs.

So what do I have to do with the carte gris? Is there an equivalent to
the UK system of just filling in a section that says it has been
permanently exported and sending it off somewhere, or do I have to get
involved in more complicated French bureaucracy?

I'm sure there's a really excellent reason that you don't just ride it
in the UK on the Frog plates and be permanently exempt from road tax and
    speeding tickets.

i never encountered this particular issue, since i imported the bike into
the uk. when they issued me with the v5 they took away the carte grise,
presumably to send it back or whatever.

i would just ask down the mairie or prefecture.

Fair enough. My insurance chap will probably tell us when we pop in to
    pay the house insurance.

From a quick google it looks as if I just send the carte grise to the
appropriate office in Limoges with a note saying it has been exported.
Simpler than scrapping it apparently (at least for a car) as you have to
take it to an approved 'destroyer' now. Wonder if CT for bikes will ever
come in - supposed to be this year? That would have driven me off the
    road on it anyway.
