I spotted one of these lurking in a dark corner of the local Yamaha dealers
    the other week.

What I didn't realise until I popped back there today and had a proper look
at it, is it's a brand new unregistered one.

    A snip at £7995...

    Good lord.

Mine was... OK. One of those bikes that you never really gel with,
    IYSWIM.

Steve Loukes had it, but I think it's moved on now.

S'wot I thought tbh... especially when I spotted they've got chain rather
    than shaft drive.
More of a novelty thing I suspect for many who own them, perhaps?

That, I always thought, was a big mistake on Yamaha's part. It's kind of
like they got all tricksy at the front, then bottled out somewhere
    around the battery box.
I don't know. It had some nice features, the front suspension being an
obvious one (although it was, in fairness, not that noticeable under
most circumstances). Other than that it was... unremarkable.

I'm glad I owned it, but I'd probably not bother with another. The VMax
that I swapped it for was much more entertaining right up until the
assassination attempt. I may well get another, one day.

Is the dealer one ABS? Only, if it is, and it's stood that long, the ABS
    is probably fucked.

Well it's not like they hadn't already explored that option on other big
'touring' stuff really is it, as in the XJ900 / Divvie 900, so shouldn't
have been 'rocket science' for them.
Yes... well they had one of them in there as well.

    Secondhand... and overpriced, thankfully.
Don't remember seeing any 'ABS' badges / stickers. Mind, I was more
admiring the layer of dust covering it than anything when I got up close to
    it.
