Paging the Idnet-isti

  1. No email since yesterday lunchtime. Their status board says it's a spam
attack, as does their help droid. Who's betting on a DDOS attack?

Could be. It was handy being notified promptly by RSS feed that the
    email was down.

Ooh, that'd be worth signing up to. How d'you do that?

Just spoken to them. I asked if it was a DOS attack, and the bloke
mused: "I don't think so. It was just a very heavy spam attack, and it
locked up the server...." I suppose a very heavy spam attack could be
    construed as DOS....

I'm surprised they don't have a back-up server, actually, given their
    charges.

Anyway, the server's unlocked but it's running its file check now,
    which understandable takes some time.

You need to know how to accept RSS feeds generally. I think most
browsers do it. Firefox certainly does (using the bookmarks folder
"Live", but I actually use a Firefox add-on called Brief.

Then if you log into your IDNet account you'll see "Updates via RSS"
near the bottom of the left-hand menu. Click on that and follow the
    instructions.

Alternatively, Google Reader is quite good for reading blogs. Makes it a
lot easier if you want to keep your subscriptions accessible from
    several places.
