or whatever you call people interested in beetles and stuff.

Just recently we have had a few Longhorn Beetles appear in the house.
General Googling suggests they are a little early in appearing and usually
    harmless.
Has anyone else had any dealings with these little critters?

So far it appears harmless, but I am not altogether sure if I should report
it to anyone if it's going to be a problem.

Certainly early - normally seen from about May.
I'm no expert, but if it is Clytus arietis (Wasp Beetle) there
shouldn't be a problem, it's one of our native Longhorns.

The only longhorn I can come up with that you are required to report
is the Citrus longhorn beetle (Anoplophora chinensis).

    Thanks Elly,
    That's the bugger.
I did look at the Defra site and found the article suggesting the report of
the fruit one, although the pics didn't do it justice.

I'll await the hatching of more then by the look of it and see how many have
been lurking over the past 3-5 years.

Well, it started in Germany when the Septics dropped bomber loads on
    them in WW2.

I thought you used to get money for them if you presented one at a
    police station

I think that was Colerado beetles, but since you got a bob for a grey
squirrel's tail too, the bounty might have extended to citrus beetles.
