Does anyone around here have a paddock stand I can borrow for a day or
so? I need to drop out the front wheel on the GPz to fit the new old
speedo drive[1] that TOG so generously provided, but the bike's had the
main stand removed so I can't simply lift the front with a jack under
    the engine.

A rear paddock stand should make it stable enough for this exercise...

And the friggin' footnote fairy struck again...

[1] Champ was right, it was the speedo drive that had gone South. I
originally thought it was the speedo as the cable still turned. When
the bike was rolling back, and I never thought of checking the other
    direction as well. Oops.

If you find yourself up around my way, there's one in my garage you can
    borrow.

It'll get rather wobbly tho', unless you're offering to hold up the
front of the bike while I drop out the front wheel...

Sounds like a plan. Alternatively, wouldn't it be easier if I somehow
find myself and the bike around your way so the paddock stand doesn't
have to clock up too many miles?

The slight flaw in that plan is that I'm away until the end of this
month (you'd have to collect the stand from Mrs WUN). If it can wait
until then, then you'd be very welcome.

Don't you mean we have a variety of stands and a trolley jack for
    serious motorcycle balancing acts?
