    Good afternoon.

After the snow has finished (starting 10am Saturday 18th March
finishing mid-late afternoon?) I would like to propose a Kentish
Kontingent Gathering for a Cinque Ports tour with an itinerary
    something like this:

    Pavensy (ex-Limb of Hastings)
    Hastings (Primary corporate Cinque Port)
Winchelsea (Cinque Port supportive Ancient Town)
Rye (Cinque Port supportive Ancient Town)
Camber ('cause it's on the way)
    Lydd (Limb of New Romney)
Dungeness ('cause I like it - lunch?)
New Romney (Primary corporate Cinque Port)
    Hythe (Primary corporate Cinque Port)
    Folkestone (Cinque Ports Federation Limb)
    Dover (Primary corporate Cinque Port)
    Deal (Cinque Ports Federation Limb)
    Sandwich (Primary corporate Cinque Port)
    Ramsgate (Limbs of Sandwich)
    Margate (Limbs of Dover)

The route is just under 100 miles and represents about 3h30m constant
riding so there's ample opportunity to tour the delights of the coast
    on the way.

    Suggested deviations:

    1) Chop off Pavensy and start the tour in Rye with a brief bimble
through Winchelsea to see Hastings (no extra miles). Or just start in
Rye and miss off Hastings and anything west of Winchelsea (Saves 20
miles) with optional unhealthy breakfast at "The Biker Café" in Rye.

    2) Travel from Folkestone to Dover on via the Alkham Valley (add 3
    miles of decent road)

    3) Don't bother going further than Sandwich (Skip Ramsgate & Margate)
and end the tour in Canterbury instead (via A257 Wingham) (adds in 3
miles in total by skipping Ramsgate & Margate and travelling from
Sandwich to Canterbury) Ending in Canterbury for summut to eat will
make it easier for everyone to get home due to the A2 (M2) running by
Canterbury and the links to the M20 (via B2068) to get to Ashford
    (B2068 then 1 junction on M20)

With all deviations taken into account the route would be 84 miles and
be just under 3 hours of constant riding taking in the best spots on
    the Kent Coast.

Unless you're planning to stop at each and every point on the itinery,
that's not 3 and a half hours worth of riding!

Nick mate, you don't do ride outs through 30 limits, that is not the
    point. Trust me on this.

Hmm... it's not that slow, even in the car, and sticking to speedlimits.

On a bike... if it takes you that long... I think you've missed the point of
    a bike.

    Alternative Cinq Port tour:

    Meet M20 Junction 11
Travel towards London until you hit Lewisham
Travel back to M20 Junction 11 then B2068 to Canterbury.

The route is with prawn for another look.

The thing about cinque ports is that they were ports. Ports generally
have a link to the coast and most of the coastal roads are 30mph
    limits.

I'll fanny with it next week taking into account the feedback as prawn
has suggested Tenterden which opens up a major change in the route.

    Tenterden - Appledore - Brenzett - Hamstreet - Hythe.

Some very fast quiet roads, coupled with some nice twisties.

YMMV, but I used to even enjoy that in the van. :)

Yes, well. Not quite what I intended but there you go.

Perhaps it would help in your own mind to distinguish whether this is
going to be a bimble or a hoon.

Even if it was the latter, better if it's along roads that are mildly
    interesting...

It depends how long you stop for fags at Leas Cliff.

Perhaps that could be a highlight of the route.

We could also stop off at one of the most active cottages in the
    south-east for a piss.

And there was me trying to drum a bit of cultural heritage into your
    souls.

I'll fanny with it next week to include a few fast dogging spots

If you wanted to do that, take them all to Dover Castle, and round the
    wartime tunnels.

Yes, you have to pay to get in, but very interesting.
