    In the main golf club titanium is the same stuff but just re-melted
    and therefore not certified as being suitable for aircraft engine
    components.

    So it's certified the right purity, and when re-melted anything could
    have gotten in to it. So, in other words, it may be the same stuff, it
    may not... depends. For aircraft, this would not be a good thing, as it
    could only take only one little bolt to fail.

    That's about it. We used to do a lot of work at a titanium plant and
    one of their production engineers spent ages telling me where their
    product ended up. It didn't take much to **** up the first melt which
    in a way was a good thing for all the titanium fans out there because
    they certainly didn't set out to produce anything but 'aircraft spec'
    titanium and if it was all perfect then we'd never see it.
