I'm fed up of last.fm keep telling me I need to sort out my mp3 tags.
Using the Windows Media Player thing is almost as painful as typing all
    the details in myself.

So, is there a nice little tool that'll sort all this stuff out for me?

I use a nice tool called Dr. Tag. It creates tags from file names, or
vice-versa as well as handling both V1 and V2 tags, import/export file lists
    etc.

The authors home page http;//www.asterius.org seems to be down ATM but I'm
sure Googling will find the utility from a mirror site.

This is a pretty good one, but i thought the OP was after something that
takes the manual work out of it. Trying to get mp3tag to label a
thousand mp3s with anything other than the filename is a bit of a chore.

It seems to quite successfully read in details from feedb and amazon
and will right the tags based on that. It's even pretty good at
    guessing the album.

I've started with that one, and it does it quite well an album at a
time. I would like to just fire something at the current stash, but I
    don't think it'll work on 1.2 large eye-pods worth.

    IIRC the codfather

Bulk tags from names, or vice versa if you like.Fre if you put up with
the adverts but damned if I can find a link. I'm away from home, and my
firewall is being a bit officious so I can't get to my desktop machine,
but can look tomorrow if you still need something.
