  3. The others have covered this well enough, so I thought I'd point out
that the hard back trilogies (although they call them omnibus) make for
good value in the money stakes. At a little over £12 for 3 grouped
stories. Buy two or more and it's free postage too.

I'm only missing the rincewind one. Must get that some time.

  4. I bought it for Gaiman's name, mostly, rather than Pterry. Lovely bloke,
Pratchett, but I can't get into the books all that well. Go figure. (Can't
stand Jane Austen, either.) Yes, splendid book. I need to reread it, and
also the Brentford books. Worth it for the soundbites alone.

    In
I started with "Wyrd Sisters" then worked through most of them, but the ones
I'd recommend would be "Mort" and "Reaper Man" because Death is just THE
DUDE. The Fifth Elephant was good too.

<I wonder did Champ, darsy et al. get this illicit thrill when they
first posted when they were meant to be doing something constructive?>

    Good Omens
Everyone else has done this already, but I'd be remiss in my duties as
a squeeing Gaiman fan girl if I didn't add my 'no it isn't' here. <g>

  9. Gaiman's a better writer.
    Do it.
    Indeed.

  10. No, though I know a lot of the original afp lot, I haven't posted
there or been to a convention since 97/98, though some of my friends
soldier on. Given our shared interests I'm surprised we haven't met.
I'd lay bets on our having friends in common. Come to an *OSM and we
can B5 and book geek in the corner <g>

  12. Are you sure we haven't already? Met, that is. :) B5 and book geekery gets
my vote. And yes, I bet we know a fair few shared peeps. If I asked this
before, blame my addled brain - which cons did you frequent?

  13. I wouldn't be at all surprised.
I didn't frequent (insert you'll be hearing from my lawyers comment
here) I only went to um, 2 or 3. Fantasy con and last one was the 2nd
disc world con in 98. I missed the first (if you went you'll know JJ)
due to sproglets (and me) having chicken pox.

Ha! Not far off the mark. But I also enjoyed Miss Wyoming. I Couldn't
get on with All Families are Psychotic and Generation X was OK. It was
probably a mistake to start with Microserfs TBH.
