Throttle response on the old '98 ones: just off idle mine's very sharp when the throttle's just opened if the engine's spinning more than a few thousand RPM. Sharp enough to upset the chassis if I've just tipped it into a tight corner and want to wind on the power - I either grit my teeth and ever so carefully try to east the throttle open without it twitching (which rarely works, or I get on the power very late), or enter the corner in a higher gear and lose drive. It's not good when the engine's cold, too; trying to dial in jsut enough revs to pull away smoothly is tricky. So, do they all do that Sir, or do I need to poke around the carbs? To be fair to it, I've done 3-4K miles on it and only changed the oil; I've never even bothered checking the throttle balance. Err, which reminds me: major service at 24K miles, yes?
