    I suspect Champ meant "friction, engine braking and air resistance" as
    you do need a slightly more than neutral throttle to overcome them and
    maintain a steady cornering speed.

    I would also imagine that due to centrifugal forces when going round a
    corner, the mass of the bike going through the tyres will appear o
    increase increase and therefore cause more rolling friction, needing
    more power to overcome?
