can you all stay out of Somerset for a few days?

I'm off to Bath today until Sunday, and I'd appreciate some good
    weather.

    TIA.

get rained on, while you ride along in your own little cloud-gap?

of course - I've given it entirely too much attention.
I had thought it was some sort of dig at the fact I'll be 40 this
    year, but see above.

The last travelling BJ I had was through the valleys in south Wales. I
would've happily swapped said BJ for a fast motorway to get me out of
that shithole as fast as possible.

I've always liked it - I've been there quite a few times over the
years (dating back to the early '90s when I used to freelance for
    Future Publishing, who're based there).

I have two distinct memories of the place relating to the late Mat
    Taberner.

The first one was that myself (and Bear) met Mat in Bath, and he had a
clipboard with him; what he (and Geoff) had been doing was going up to
random people in the street, trying to look official (the clipboard)
and asking them: "Who do you hate more - coons or the pope?".

The second one was when we went to a pub (surprise) - I forget the
name, but it's the one just round the corner from Sally Lunn's,
overlooking the river. They had a sign up advertising a "Psychic
Fayre" which was to take place the following weekend. Mat had a
serious (well, serious look on his face) go at the barman about "why
the **** they needed the poster".

    I wholeheartedly agree.

Absolutely. That's the only thing I dislike about Bath, is that it
always reminds me of Mat. I mentioned this to Angie at the weekend,
and she said something like "and wasn't Windy from around here
too" (to which I replied "sort-of"). A then said "Is there anyone you
know from the west country that hasn't died?" I said "Well, there's
Porl". Angie immediately said "hmm...anyone else?".
TBH, to balance the books he'd need to take Rope *and* WC *and* quite
    a few others.
