I'm sorry, I can't put up with this any longer.

    You are all campervans!

Exactly. I don't think surgery is the answer for a simple bit of short
sightedness. It's mainly a vanity thing anyway, and **** all like not
wearing specs is going to improve things for me.

    Eddie the Eagle re-born.
His glasses are as good as they get. At least the two pairs I've got can't
    be faulted.

There's a chance, although it'd be a slim one. Retinopathy checks are done
with dilated pupils and some serious camera work, followed up by a person
trined in spotting even the most minute changes to the back of the eye. The
camera operator is a LOT more thorough than the opticians too, who don't
dilate your pupils before examining or photographing your retina's.

Horses for courses on this one. A good optician is good, but they don't have
the tools or the time that a proper retinal screening needs.

  5. If you have a half-way competent optician - yes. My last checkup he
also did the equivalent of a diabetic check too - it didn't count as he
didn't have the local contract from the PCT but it was a hell of a lot
more thorough than the real one I had.

TBH I'm not that bothered. I tried contact lenses a few years before
I was diagnosed T2, and didn't like them. I've had these things
perched on my nose now every day for the last 32 years, they're as
much a part of me as anything else.
    I did wonder.
    Thanks for that.

Bless you. Although I suppose it's because you're sensitised to air-cooled
    boxer engines.

I got it. It's not true, though.

    VW T2's are highly desirable.

  18. Yup. The only thing he didn't do was the photo. But he did do other
stuff like a glaucoma test (and even though he didn't do the photo he
did a thorough visual examination while the pupils were dilated).

He did say that it didn't count as the diabetic check (Specsavers has
the contract for that locally) but it was for his records and out of
    professional pride..

  19. I can't think of any possible circumstances where my pupils would dilate
when Des was in view. After all looking down a sniper-scope tends to
    contract the pupils..

Oh - and LN - I think this is another one for your case file. If
Des-the-slime is meaning what I suspect he is meaning.
