I get my eyes photographed twice a year at two different places (both
diabetic specialist) and when I had my eyes photographed by Specsavers this
year, the bloke was fucking useless. Just 2 pics per eye and crap photo's
they were too. No dilation though and I wasn't aware that Specsavers (or ANY
regular optician) was allowed to administer drugs anyway.

  2. The Specsaves guy was OK - but nowhere near as thorough or knowledgable
as my optician (who as well as being a contact lens specialist also
used to do *lots* of diabetic eye checks). The practice doesn't have a
camera though - can't justify the expense as they don't have the
    contract.
Well - both lot did (regular optician used an eye-dropper and
specsavers used a disposable paper tab - presumably because its harder
for them to screw it up that way and o/d someone with belladonna..). I
disliked it intensely both times - my eyes are very light sensitive at
the best of times (and I have very very good night vision) and having
the pupils dilated full-wide open on a bright sunny day (while I'm
wearing my glasses as contacts were expressly forbidden!) was not much
    fun..

No doubt :) I really wasn't aware that specsavers did the dilation thing
though and they've never offered that option to me in over 10 years of using
    them. Same with Vish Express.
Yeah, it's bloody irritating for a few minutes after the drops go in. In
fact it fucking hurts for the first few seconds.
For some reason, whenever I go to get my photo's taken, there's only me
around, so I have to drive or ride there on my own. It's been "ride" the
last few years and it's always sunny as **** when I come out. Thankfully, my
lid has a drop down dark visor but it's still a careful ride home. I used to
wear specs that were very darkly tinted (green for some odd reason) after I
had an eye knocked out of my head in a car when I was eighteen, but they've
calmed down over the years allowing me to wear normal clear lass lens.

It's after the pics I wish I still wore tinted specs, but them's the breaks.

I got my results back a while ago too. No signs of retinopathy yet and it's
been 20 years or thereabouts now, so I's a happy bunny.
