Users of Thunderbird 3 will have noticed that posts from Google groups muck up the threading. To fix this go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General (tab) -> Config Editor… (button) and change the values for mail.correct_threading to false mail.strict_threading to false mail.thread_without_re to true then go to Edit -> Newsgroup Properties and clicked the Repair folder and lo, proper threading This has been a PSA
Bad form but I should also say that it will also cause all your headers to be re-downloaded (over 65,000 for me on this group) and will lose all the threads you've marked ignore.
Even if you've marked all as read? Plus I limit my downloads to 300 headers max. On the odd time I use tbird, it's at home at the weekends. Though now I've got Groundhog on the phone, I might not even bother with tbird. Thanks anyway, the threading mess was getting annoying, but I didn't know/care why it was happening until now.
Don't suppose you can tell me how to set a proper sig in Gravity perchance? My version (the latest according to the website) just bombs out as soon as I pick the signature tab. It won't let me do a bloody thing, and I'm fed up typing the sig at t'bottom.
Sorry, I don't understand the question. Thunderbird has a newsreader. You can point it at any news server. Google Groups is a service from Google that supports discussion groups, including many Usenet newsgroups. You can't access GG directly from a newsreader.
Then why bother? We can see your ID in the thread pane, and again in your header at teh top of your post. We know who you are - save yourself the unneccessary grief.
