It's starting to look like we're winning the race to the bottom, but I
guess the good news is that if our currency keeps falling then it'll
be cost effective to ship some jobs back from India to blighty.

  18. It's all going to get worse before it gets better apparently. The big
killer that's coming up is a write down in commercial property, total
losses across all banks is forecast around 70 billion, with RBS taking a
28bn hit. Problem is good old Gordy didn't factor this into the rescue
packages, and the figures are big enough to impact the banks credit
ratios, so they're going to need bailing out again. Extra problems for
RBS who are about to have their credit rating downgraded.[1]

Pound to go to around 92-95p against the Euro in next few months - prace
    bets!

Massive losses last year in pension funds. Trying not to think about it.

  19. While I may have been financially ruined by this, it is some consolation
to know that vast numbers of british ex-pats (mostly unpleasant
northerners) are, whilst I type, buying their tickets to get "home".

I may never again hear "una coffee con lechi and una choobo sevesa".

Downside is I may have to get a job.

Join the civil service. :) We're sitting pretty with modest incomes,
a place we own at =~80%, and zero (aside from <-- that) debt. France
would have to go bankrupt, before we lost our jobs. The cash register
when we buy food has already started to show somewhat disconcerting
figures, but we have modest needs, and so we're not bothered.
