  3. They do in our house.

Make fresh bread, by hand or machine. When it's cool enough to cut
spread it with butter or if you have to, some form of imitation butter.

Try changing your make of coffee, if it's pre-ground, keep it in the
fridge, don't let it get stale.

Never keep filter made coffee on the heater plate of the machine. It
will get bitter very quickly and lose its fresh taste.

( I hate coffee machines where the person lifts down the pot of old
coffee that's been sitting on the top heater for an hour and expects you
to drink it. I always refuse!)

If you have the time, go to a coffee importer and ask to try a cup of
different beans at different roasts. The ones I have been to have
fallen over backwards to help. The good ones always have a pot of their
current favourite in a vacuum jug for you to try.

Then maybe try one of their recommended blends.

You're doing something wrong. Your taste buds *are* worth it.

    Variables?!

Well, if you're unable to measure out some ingredients properly I
    guess...

If you're out of butter, what's the point in making bread?

It doesn't stick in the bread maker as much, when trying to get it out.

A bit of corrossion can do that of course. My 996 required the rather large
rear hub nut being subject to Dremel attack.

All the ones I've seen here already have yeast so as soon as it's wet
the yeast is started. I'd been assuming that the overnight delay
wouldn't work too well with those. Do the ones your using add the
    yeast separately?

We get our bread delivered by the milkman on a Friday morning and it's
    fine for weekend bacon butties.

See what you're missing out on?

I almost thought I'd been cheated by my parents for not introducing me
to such culinary delights but then I realised it would have been a
    wasted effort.

Well dip it, but it really doesn't go with marmalade.

On it's own, or with balsamic vinegar and / or garlic is very yummy
    indeed. Assuming decent oil, natch.
