....the elder of our two cats has recently decided it wants to stink the
    house out with chronic flatulence.

Her diet hasn't changed (mainly fed on dried food), and she's coming up for
13, so... apart from the effect on the ozone layer, and our senses of smell,
should we be worried - is it just something to do with relative old age, or
is it pointing to something maybe a vet should look into?

She seems happy enough in herself, and I'd not normally be that bothered,
but she does insist on sitting / sleeping just behind where I tend to sit,
and the stench is that bad and persistent, I'm considering renaming her
    'Auvache'.

    TIA

    Open the windows?
Could be a gastric problem starting to get worse.

    That's really unfair!

Auvache is probably FAR worse looking than that cat and easily less smelly,

Are you sure she hasn't found a supplemental source of diet?

I would suggest a check up - elderly cats are prone to kidney diseases
and if she has a low fluid intake that may lead to gut problems.

I've also only just realised you were the source of the GSX - a bloody
excellent bike which I sold on to a bloke not far from you.

Get it looked into. Our family cat made it to 19, so you don't want
another 6 years breathing cat guff.
