One of ours, name of Delia, stands at the entrance to the run and
squawks loudly until someone picks her up and carries her to any
sheltered piece of uncovered ground where she scratches around quite
happily until the others return to the run. She then squawks loudly
until someone picks her up and carries her back.

But of course. Since we are not going to eat them, they have names:
Delia, Honey, Heather, Pearl and Prudence.

 

My gf has been collecting names for hens for years, in the hope that one
day I'll consent to having some hens to attach them to.

 

So, they're not *that* stupid then...

Heh. Our cats did that.

 

Our two latest ones are Oprah (because she's a big black bird) and
Catherine (because she's a ginger like Ms. Tate). Some bod on the
Omlet forum[1] named hers Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal, which I
think is a superb name for a chicken.

[1] Seriously, if you think ukrm is odd, you've never visited a
chicken keepers' web forum.

 

This is the same logic that led The Doctor to buy a wheel-less
wheelbarrow, I think.

Oh no. She wouldn't want to get her feet all cold. Not when there's a
doting owner to fetch and carry.

 

Ours love to play in it. Snowballs are great to chase, and there's
always somewhere to hide.

 

You could name them even if you were to eat them:
Colonel, Fillet, Zinger and Nugget.

 

Have you tried collecting names for multiple girlfriends?
