The "Ashley" P5B Coupe is up for sale 190227942662
OMFG!!11!!! Want, need, will Shirley etc etc.... That's a lot of intriguing motor there, for 12.5k and in need of paint and a retrim. As an aside, that ad displays completey differently in IE7 and FF3.
I showed it to the FiL - his view was that the proper saloon version of the P5B looked much better than the coupé, but the modifications were quite impressive.
I think the Overfinch connection is that Schuler became Overfinch in 1985. Note the "Overfinch Conversion" plate. But if you're going to do stuff to a P5B, you should be improving it as a road car, not converting it into an agricultural vehicle.
The alloys in the top pics are from a 92-94 Range Rover Vogue SE, and I think some late Discovery S1's. The ones on the lower pics are aftermarket jobs - that thing must be really weird to drive. -- Pete M - OMF#9 BMW 320i SE Touring (I know, after all I said...) Range Rover V8 Turbo (Sold) "Wait! It's a shame the press articles don't come out better. I read the article in the Classic Cars mag back in '95 when it was published and, from what I recall, there was a lot of money spent with people that knew what they were doing. It did look quite odd being bumperless too.
To be fair, having driven ours to the MOT station yesterday, even standard ones are really weird to drive, especially by modern standards. Things have moved on in the last 40 years.
I drove a near perfect Range Rover 'Classic' last week, and I still love them. My Turbo one is a lot stiffer than standard, so it feels very weird indeed. -- Pete M - OMF#9 BMW 325i SE Touring (I know, after all I said...) Range Rover V8 Turbo (Sold) "Wait! You have to like riding around in a very powerful off-road runabout with single-figure mpg. If I found myself in the disconcerting position of actually owning it, I'd put Landie steel wheels on it with proper T&C tyres, paint it NATO green, then go along to military vehicle meets and pass it off as a one-off prototype built to an MOD spec for a command car, something like this: http://www.solidcars.com/sugga.htm
*Right*. Yes, I see exactly what you mean. The top edge of the rear arch is square and just slices aross the top line of the tyre. It looks *so* much better. Funnily enough, though it may be heresy, I think the car might look even better if lowered an inch or two.
Now that's interesting. I didn't know he was involved in it. Didn't he do the original Range Rover? Or was that Spen King? Or both of 'em?
Hmmm...Bear used the term "stance" just up there ^. I've never heard the term used wrt to a car before either.
