I got the 3 part Maguiars stuff today. FWIW I reckon the step one is not
harsh enough for what I want. Not sure it's harsh enough for what they say
TBH, but then I wasn't dealing with oxidiation.[1] The other two bits
bring it up blindingly white though.

To take some of the effort out, I also bought a cheap DA polisher from
Argos. Not bad at all, although it makes your hands tingle like ****. Not
really up to the final polish either IMO but makes the rest of it *much*
quicker. I finished up with old cotton cloths. The stuff coming off was
actually sticky. I think this may be a result of mixing all the bits up,
together with GS27 [2] on the same pad. I'd reckon on getting more bonnets
of you were thinking of giving one a try. You're welcome to drop by and
    have a whirl.

BTW Maguiars alloy wheel cleaner (pink) rocks mightily. Really is spray
    on, hose off stuff.

    Oh, and Happy Birthday :)

[1] Mainly trying to get rid of general ground in road grime and scratches
    on a white 75.
[2] Scratch removing paste. *very* good. I mean *really* very good.

Catman was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
Fair enough - most of the paint on the ShiteOldRover was just
oxidised and it worked really well on that, but for the other
ingrained dirt/birdshit bits it didn't help.
    Oh yes.
I will - the Skyline could do with a bit of a polish before
winter. I'll just get some of the normal Meguiars polish instead as
the paint is generally in an OK state.
    Ta...
