Just in case the impossible happens, I find a ZX10R and I need to sell
my bike sharpish, how much is my bike worth?

T plate Daytona 955i in red.
19K miles, it's in good nick.
Carbon hugger, black double-bubble screen, standard otherwise.

It's had one minor mishap along the road, with most of the damaged
parts replaced/repaired aside from two. The engine casing which has a
scuff and one of the small inner fairing panels has a crack.

    I also have:
    * triumph high level carbon race can (a couple of scratches on it)
    * the road can
    * pillon seat and a seat cowl
    * a workshop manual
    * a massive socket (42" I think) for the rear wheel

I want to part-ex it, so would I be right in thinking I should stick
the road can and pillion seat on it, and then ebay the rest of the bits?

What can I get out of a dealer, and is there a better way?

**** me, I'll have that just for show. Can you find a local forklift
    driver to help load it?

  4. Halfords Pro Range, I suppose. Just the thing for those big nuts on the
    screws on ocean liners.

Can't comment on justoffbase - however ordered a load of stuff from Screwfix
last night just after 5.00pm and it was delivered 20 minutes ago at 7.20am.
    *Impressed*

All the Draper stuff I have is OK - at least I've not managed to break any
    of it

less than **** all if its anything like the quotes I've had on the
two of mine I've asked for quotes for.

for my trumpet I was offered slightly over parkers price (but only
because it had just had the big service [1] but far less for the
    bindit [2]

    for yours Parkers gives

    Original Price £ 8499
    Independent Dealer £ 2905
    Private Good £ 2775
    Private Poor £ 2325
    Part Exchange £ 2550

[1] they said it was high mileage at 10K for a 2 year old bike!
    [2] between 200 & 600 quid less

My Gixer is 4 yrs old with 11K miles, I think that's terribly low
really, but the trade think otherwise. I hardly rode it last year and
still managed to put over 5K miles on it.

I only did about 3K last year.. but given the ZRX had 19K on it already
    it hardly matters.

I just bought a 52 plate GSXR750 and that had 2500 miles on it. I have had
it for a month and a half and put another 1k on it.

The previous owner must have been a right fairweather pansy.

Thanks Adie. Not the best news[1], but at least I can avoid being
totally shafted. Some more hunting to see what the best price for a
    zx10r is, methinks.

    [1] is it ever?

Well I can sort that scuffed engine case out for you if that's any help. I
can make it look brand new or 5 years old and you won't have to offer any
more sexual favours either. I can probably do it at home in an hour or so if
you make the brews. I'll show you where the kettle is.

I have one you can borrow. I can probably get a Laser one fairly cheaply
if you want. They're pretty good value.

That's v kind of you, old chap - but it would dny me a tool buying
    opportunity.
I'm off to machine mart in the morning - we'll see what they've got.

PS Are you still interested in that ground anchor? I know it's been a
long time, but I'm a forgetful old Hector.
