ZX7R, 1999/T, 14k miles, looks in good nick at a quick glance.

Ballpark figure? Worth watching it for a couple of months until the
dealer's in the middle of winter and desperate to flog anything at all?

    Also

GSF1200N, 1999/T, 32k miles, excellent runner, reasonable nick but
visible corrosion on stuff like headlight bracket and rear caliper.

Ballpark figure? Worth keeping it until spring (whether having nabbed
something else in the meantime or not) and flogging then?

  2. Yeah, I'd wait until late autumn. Someone might snap it up, but
otherwise throw ukp2750 and see what happens. What's the asking price
    now?

It's not worth a vast amount - Bandits are always cheap. But now it's at
this age and state, it's not going to depreciate vastly, so it's your
    choice.

£3495, iirc, hence my plan for knocking them down a bit.

    Alternatively, there's something like
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2488852503&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
which has the wheels and seat I want, but the wrong colour tank and fairing
(as does the first one, but at least it's the right colour.)
I was guessing about £2600, which wouldn't have me crying into my
    cornflakes too much.

On a related note, I'm definitely interested in that SOB. Are you about
    for a viewing at all?

  4. Yes, that's definitely a bit steep.

    Yeah, probably this weekend.

I might be in the market for a Bandit 12... it is a 'proper' one, isn't
it? Not one of those with a poofy screen?
Hmmm... I thought a T-reg might be cheaper than that, though. Especially
with 32k miles on it. But I must admit I haven't really looked yet.

    Anyway: what colour is it?

I don't understand how all this works, as my GSX-R (02, 15k - mint) appears
    to be worth around £3,500.

Just doesn't seem 'right' - either one is way to high, or way to low :)

    Or one's a girl's bike.

Well... my Falco (2000, 24k miles) had a book price of GBP3850 (with
'average' 12000 miles), and the initial offer from the insurance company
was GBP3300, which I'm trying to bump up a bit.

I don't know how much your Gixxer sells for new, so I'm not really sure
    whether that's good or not. It's a 600, yeah?
Depends whether you're buying, selling, or trying to squeeze money out
    of an insurance company, really.

Well yes, but the demand for girl's bike group is quite high...

    But of course.
A quick glance at biketrader turns up 1999 models between 2850 and 3400
with similar mileage. The mileage isn't really much of an issue, as
the engines are pretty much bombproof.
    Green, of the dark variety.

http://www.pre.org/parp.jpg is the only photo I have of it to hand.
I'll try and take a couple when the sun next makes an appearance.

Hey, I was just making sure.

I think I was also going to make some point about the relative value of
600s compared to litre-bikes, but my fingers must have got bored with
the idea before I managed to type it.

Really? Hmmm. Guess I should do some research of my own.
Hmmm... how quickly do you want to get rid of it? Not sure how quickly I
could organise getting down that end of the country to have a look at
it. Unless you fancied a trip up north...?

I'm planning to buy a car in the next few weeks, until then the bandit's
my sole mode of transport (unless you count a mountain bike) so I won't
be in any hurry at all to get rid of it before then.

I'm in no real rush to buy the replacement - if I have to go bikeless
over the winter I won't cry too much, but (as per other thread) I'm
thinking of picking something up in the next month or two.

If you're going to the EOSM, and I make it along, you're welcome to a
test ride, and it'll be cleaned, serviced, taxed and tested some time
    in the next three weeks.

So I'm not desperate to shift it, but could live without it soon. I'd
like to get enough for it to cover buying the 7R, but will have to
see how it goes. If it goes early, I'll grab TOG's Z200 as an insurance
    stop-gap and side-project.

    Ah, that's good.
I'm not - but I'm sure there'll be plenty of people there who can tell
me about it. Some of them might even be mechanically competent.
OK... in about two weeks time, I should be in a position to start
seriously looking, and if all else fails I'm sure I can manage a trip
down to London-ish to at least have a look at it. Keep me posted, yeah?

More likely to be White's of Slough. Essex is a bit of a trek from
here, especially without transport. Last year I got a man in, but
he seems to have buggered off!

Hmm, maybe I won't take it up after all! The last thing my wallet needs
is someone mechanically competent looking it over ;)
    Certainly will.
