    A mate wants this: http://tinyurl.com/2psyo

    Think it's a reasonable price?

    It's a friend's son actually, he's only 24 and will be getting
the bike on finance, so I don't want him marrying it iyswim.

    Cheers.

What does him being "only 24" have to do with anything?

Good point, apologies for lack of clarity.. Inflated price +
high % APR + eeeek (age related) insurance premium = :-((

Just trying to assist with financial disaster avoidance scheme.

Cheers, hope you are well, etc. :)

  4. I think it's 500 quid overpriced, actually.

Insurance will be high but not stupid if he has some NCB and had his
licence for a while. My GSXR with 1 year NCB and a licence for 5
years was around 500 quid tpft when I first got it and was a similar
    value to that R6.

On the other hand, if he's just passed his test he's going to get
    fucked over.

I suspect he's going to have to pay the earth.. it's an almost brand new
bike, a group 15 (?) and he's 24 with a new licence, but you never know.
    As a guide line, I'm 24 and paying £800FC on a 2002 GSX-R600. I've had a
licence two years, one year NCB and live in a 'safe' area and [1].
    The bike is garaged [1]

How are you doing by the way? Recovered fully from your little er
    'adventure' ?

[1] which has now been improved :)

LOL. When did that happen? I thought you'd given up sports bikes and were going to get
    something sensible :)

I'm paying for it today and collecting it tomorrow. Christmas present
    to myself.
I was. But decided the Civic can do the sensible thing well and the
GSXR can do the silly thing well, rather than having one that does
    both badly.

And it's black/red like the last one :)

Excellent. Presents to self are the best :)
    My Civic isn't sensible - mwuahaha. :)
Of course - I would've have been disappointed with any other colour. Have to meet up
soon, I did far too much solo riding last year.

Ah, so it should be a GSXR1000i then?

Paid for now. Got the exhaust and pillion seat in the boot of the
car. Saw it in the workshop having it's service.
Ooh, what ya got? If you've got a Type-R can I have a go? Mine is a
    boring 8 year old 1.3.
Certainly. I'm officially going to be a fair-weather pansy from now
on though, and given I haven't ridden for 8 months, you'll probably be
    faster than me.

He's been quoted £350 TP, £950 TPFT and around £2,500 FC.

Where did you get it from? Streetbike? New?
Yeah, one of them. Love it to bits. It keeps trying to lose my license for me though.
Doubtful, I never seemed to have any spare time last year and only did about 4000 miles.
I don't particularly mind riding in shite weather but it doesn't really do it for me (and
I like to keep it in good nick and cleaning the white wheels a couple of times is enough
to make anyone a pansy foo foo). Don't mind cold and dry/damp though :)

Sounds about right. Tell him to get the tpft and put 2k in a bank
account for when he drops it.

Sutton Motorcycles, secondhand, 2002, K1 model. Race can, carbon
hugger, braided hoses all-round, never seen rain etc, etc.
Nice. If I get a share windfall later this year I may be investing in
one or similar Focus/Golf. On the other hand I quite fancy a
    Mitsubishi L200 Animal pickup.
I just full intended riding for pleasure this year, and pleasure
doesn't include cold and wet unless I'm mountain biking.
