    My VFR.

VFR800, 1998R, 30.5k miles, new MOT. Decent condition, but not perfect
(as you'd expect for the age) - but garaged all winter for the past 5
    years.

I'll probably leave the wingrack on it, too. (but keep the cases)

Don't do enough miles to warrant a VFR anymore, so kind of thinking of
swapping it for a Ducati SS of some description. (Been thinking about it
for a couple of years now, but could never be arsed to flog the VFR)

  3. Yep, and the weather in Sao Paulo is lovely.

I'd have thought about £1600-1700 for the Viffer.

That's a lot of complicated bike for the money ..

    Ouch.

    That's a bit less than I expected.

Hardly seems worth selling for that kind of money.

Nothing complicated about the old 800s - I think you're thinking of the
    VTECs.

I've toyed with the idea of buying a new bike but decided that actually
using the BMW would be a better idea.

Yeah, I can see that logic.

I could buy a Ducati 750SS the shape TOG has for peanuts and keep the
VFR - which is probably a better option than selling the VFR and buying
    a later Ducati.
    Heh.

For some reason, I've just lost all confidence in riding the VFR - to
the extent that I don't get up in the morning and think 'I want to go
for a ride'. This isn't good.

  9. A really, really superb 750 made about 2.2k recently. If yours is
particularly clean it might make a bit more, but really, not much. I've
just double-checked on Ebay's finished auctions, and they aren't making
the money. 2000 model ones aren't even hitting reserves of £2k.
Welcome to the club. I reckon my Duke is worth about £1300-1400 now. Why
    sell it?

I've just seen that Ducati Aylesbury have a 2002 plate 750SS
half-faired, the satin black one with single disc, 8k miles (obviously
owned by someone who rode even less miles than I do....) for £2399.

    That kind of appeals.

Almost worth buying that and keeping the VFR, but I'll have to have a
    think about that one.

  13. Not to me. Pig-ugly bikes compared to the 'classic' styling of mine,
single front disc, and a matt black paint scheme....

The FI engine is nicer, mind. But £2.4k is just too much for a 750SS.
You can get a fabulous carb model, privately, for £1700.

Mine's worth less because it's a bit leggy (30k miles) and is starting
to look, well, a bit shabby.

    Still goes bloody well, mind.

With my reputation should I really be let anywhere near a Ducati? I
    think we know the answer.

So then you might as well sell it and buy something that you want to
    ride.

People are shitting a brick. IMO toys like motorbikes and sports cars are
going to end up very cheap, purely down to the fact that people haven't got
the disposable income they used to, and it's a very easy way to save
£500-£1000 a year. Your boring diesel cage, OTOH, may stop depreciating
    quite so quickly...

    "a bit shabby"?

It's an embarrassing[1] total fucking shed.

[1] I mean, I'd be embarrased to be seen on it. It suits you, though.
