I was thinking: "What kind of loon has *three* lawnmowers?"

The sort of loon who buys a new mower when the grass collector is full. I
    imagine.

One of them's completely U/S, IIRC, the other old one is a small
electric jobbie suitable for small areas and tight corners; the main
one is a tractor with a 36" cut that we acquired with the house, so
it's not axactly a precision instrument.

Naah, I'm actually something of a spendthift, you know. The newest
would be the smallest, which I bought in about 1997. We may invest in
a new tractor oine next year, mind; one that's big enough to push a
    snowplough down the drive.
And you can **** right off, bandwagon-jumper.

I was astonished at the relative lack of junk - surely no
self-respecting garagist can be without a load of crap
    Ahh, there you are then

  11. 'Course not. They'd go into the chandlers and pay a hundred quid for a
posh tyre, cunningly designed to look like an air-filled piece of
    plastic.
    Fishing boats, too.

By the time I get round to changing the pads there's usually too much
metal and not enough pad material for them to be reused. I suppose I
should change them a bit earlier, I just don't manage to get round to
it untill it's making 'orrible noises.

To think it was empty apart from two (push) bikes
and a scaffold plank [1] before I started racing...
Yup, full to the brim with two lawn mowers, the 748,
boxes of beer, boxes of stuff still not sorted from when
we moved in [2], various childrens inflatables, the kids
bikes, the other bike with child seat, a BMW 3-series
tow bar and various other junk.

[1] borrowed from when the house was being built
because "you never know when it will come in handy"
and it does now as a bike loading ramp when we
    have a van.
[2] 5 years ago, but I'll get round to it soon.

  15. Exactly. It took a mere two or three years to accumulate enough shit to
fill my workshop (30' x 24'), but the past couple of years has seen an
    amazing drop-off in accumulation rate.
In order to get the cars in, I now have to buy a ski.. 40' storage
container and park it outside then fill it with the assorted shit - all
of which isn't actually junk and no-way no-how will it be thrown away.

Too right. Don't forget that tyres are about four times heavier than
most plastic fenders, and that they leave 'orrible great black marks
all over the place, including your hands every time you need to put
    them in or out.

    Take your choice of:

    1. They make less noise and are easier to conceal.

    2. Heh. I was in two minds whether to correct my gramma
but thought it was too good an opportunity to miss.

Aren't you in the market for a new motor? Why not get something that'll go
through the snow - much less work, and more fun.
