Thankfully they seem to get easier to find the older you get. The worst
thing about being single is not having someone to go on non-biking
    holidays with.

Bugger. Sorry to hear that, old chap.
Umm, when did you grow up? I must have missed that part.

    Dunno. Growing up looks rubbish.

    Snigger.

One is allowed not to grow up. One needs an SO who did grow up but
nevertheless finds oneself endearing and amusing.

Having your wife of xx years constantly telling you to grow up can set
up some bad resonance. Such that, in the words of one of my friends I'm
now behaving like a love struck teenager. If he'd mentioned Simon Cowell
in the description then I might have been a bit stung, otherwise it's
    game on ;-) .

It's quite a simple one really - if the following word starts with a
vowel /sound/, it's 'an'. The actual letter it starts with is
irrelephant. Words starting with 'h' can cause problems though,
    depending on your accent.
    Heh.

I hate seeing "an hotel" written.

Even seeing that ^ makes my skin crawl.

IKWYM, but being from 'Ampshire I think I might occasionally say "an
'otel", but only due to the dropped aitch rather than pretentiousness.

I suspect that this is true for many people, much of the time.
Depending on the sentence stress, sometimes it sounds equally wrong to
force 'a hotel' with the aspirated 'h'. 'ourses for courses, innit?
