What might be a reasonable price for an '06 XT660R ?
    Reasonably clean with 4k mileage?
    Completely standard....

I know; I keep finding stuff that needs doing on the green thing.
Appear to be out of budget unless high miles...

Appears to have a bigger tank, a decent screen, better luggage
    carrying capability, dodgy rec/rec...

I'd tell you how to check if it was one of the batch with a dodgy
reg/rec and lend you my original hard panniers on a wreck them buy
them basis. Apart from that you should ask Steve any questions you've
got about a 660R because that's what he's going on.

I paid less than that about 10 months ago to a dealer for an 08 with
11k on the clock complete with bark-busters, scotoiller touring kit,
luggage racks, top box and bash plate fitted. They did ask more to
    start with mind.

There's an 07 on ebay for 2k5 with 7k miles on it. An 06 for 2k but
with higher miles and in cornwall...

I think you can do better than 3k.

Yes, prolly. 4k miles is very low, though. Depends on ''reasonable
    condition', I suppose. I'd expect a minter.

    Crikey that sounds very good....
If I have to bugger off half way across the country to get a few hundred
quid off when there is a good one on my doorstep it's a no brainer.
And I might have to do it more than once.

This morning I had a go on two that fit the above description plus an 06
Pegaso with 5k on it, also clean.
I liked the Pegaso best but it seems to be a problem getting big
panniers for it and I don't think the trelleborgs will fit :)

First time the sprints been out in a month.....

As long as you can get pannier frames you'll be able to fit any
generic boxes to them. The best way to mount them so they're still
fairly easy to get off is with the Touratech puck type mounts but
    they're a bit fucking dear.

    As for the Trelleborgs....

    Mine don't fucking fit either.
It'd be an interesting bike to take to Norway if you haven't found
    anything to replace the Armstrong.

Order the right size I suppose.

Once I've done that I need to buy something with an 18" rear wheel to
take the tyre I can't use on the 17" rear wheel fitted to the Tenere.
It's an excuse to buy something new.

Proper colour, very clean, 3,500 miles.
£2,900 and they are fitting heated grips and muffs on it.
    Service, mot, warranty etc etc.

  13. So "about £3k", then. Nice. Not my sort of bike - like Bonwick, I'd
rather have the Tenere (in fact, I damn nearly did buy one).

I stomped past one the other morning on the way to work.

Then my spider sense kicked in and I slowed down. Sure enough, as he
pulled alongside me at the next set of lights I saw "Metropolitan
    Police" in discrete letters.

    Three cheers for justified paranoia!

  15. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, ogden
    Not joined-up writing, then?
Hmm... Surely if it's justified then it's not paranoia?
