I think we can agree to differ on this.
I've always liked CXes. Might make more sense than a GL1000...

I just shrugged my shoulders and repaired the damage. No need for
    hysterics.

  3. This is all true.
Now that makes me think maybe yours had a damaged sidestand or
    something, 'cos mine doesn't.
Again,. no probs here - but my legs are a bit longer than the monotreme
    paddles.
Agreed. For something cobbled together as an afterthought, it's rather
    well done.
<G> Indeed. It's one of the thirstiest bikes I've ever owned, and as you
say, the moment it goes onto reserve the engine sounds like it's about
    to explode.
Yup. It's easy to service, but getting at the various bits means
removing a dozen other components. You even have to take off the carbs
to change the bloody air filter.

Probably no more than the BMW, but the high CofG made it more of an issue.
By contrast, I could put the BMW onto the mainstand without getting entirely
    out of the saddle.
More than once, it had me at the side of the road.
You had to swap out the entire airbox, but to be fair, it was only every
    40K.

Um, I was quoted 26k (miles). I suspect you're thinking in kilometres.
Bloody silly: the entire airbox/air filter assembly is a single unit.
    Whose bright idea was that?

As for CXs, I owned a B for a while. More comfy than the Eurospurt. I
still think it was one of the most advanced designs Honda ever produced
    - incredibly far ahead of its time, if you consider the engine. Worst
thing about it was the weight. IIRC, a Guzzi V50 (same spec apart from
air-cooling - 500cc transverse shaft drive vee twin) was 50kg lighter.

I've always wondered why Honda have never produced an updated version.
The mid-sized transverse vee-twin shaft drive layout is so right, but
instead all they've produced is in-line vees with shaft drive, and not
    particularly good ones at that.

Possibly. Yeh, mine was coming up on 40k and had already had it done once.
A bit like an oil filter, then.
Every 26K? That's not the most extreme of hardships, really, and if you
were doing a service and had the seat, rear rack, sidepanels, tank etc off
already, it's only another ten or so minutes bodging.
    I always liked the Deluxe.

    You could, you know.

    A probably pretty cheaply.
Which unbolts with surprising ease. And I'll Ebay it, or you can.

Can't do much about its being Yellow, mind.

Actually, I really have little clue. It's currently staying at its Uncle
Petrolcan's place. It has no MOT, but that could be sorted.

It's probably a non-runner. I could never countenance an unserviceble shed

Paging Petrolcan! Would Mr Petrolcan care to comment at this point?
Actually in all seriousness, I probably need to retrieve it and fettle
    it for sale fairly soon.

    ****. Price just went up.
