Paging TOG

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by jackhackettuk, Feb 3, 2007.

  1. Asking on behalf of my mechanic.

He's just had a deal with me on my CBR600, and wants to know what to
ask for the following, as he no longer needs it.

    1983/4 A reg Honda VF400F

I believe it has MOT and tax til October.

I had a look at it earlier, and it's pretty tidy overall - it's a
metallic red which has faded on the tank, but is completely original.

I had a look at things like the forks and they look nice and clean,
    with no pitting.

I told him to stick it up for £395 - is this a fair price?

He's also got another one in bits - are the spares from this worth
listing up individually on eBay, or as a job lot, or is he better off
asking a bit for the main bike and to include all the spares with it?

    TIA

AFAIK the 400 and 500 are actually decent bikes (apart from certain
jobs one has to do to the top end...) - I think 395 is a good price and
I vaguely believe that TOG either got that kind of money or even a tad
more for the 500 he sold recently.
Don't, get him to sell the parts separately. It won't make any
difference to the bike's selling price if he includes them and it'll
potentially scare off people who just want the bike and not a garage
    full of parts with it.

  3. Well I had a look at it, and I actually thought it looked like quite a
    nice bike.

No good for me, but certainly alright for someone who wanted something
    to plod around on.
    Ok.

I just wasn't sure whether there would be enough demand for the parts
from one of these to justify all the aggro of listing them, was all.

  4. Yes, about right.

And he's better off selling the spares separately. It's what I did.

  5. Okey dokey.

If anyone is interested in said bike, please ping me with an email -
like I said, not my cup of tea, but looked like a good example given
    the age.

Miles are 31k, and it's located near Canterbury in Kent.
