One for the next series of Balderdash & Piffle, perhaps?

    Regarding the original topic:
I have the idea that I heard the word, or one very like it,
before the internet became the Internet. Maybe round 1981
near Glasgow. I you cared, you might like to track down a
Jimmy (formally James) Pinkerton of that ilk who I am
pretty certain introduced me to the word.

As I recall he had rather a remarkable memory and may well
be able to offer further bullsh1t^w information, even now.
If that is he is not long dead of course.

More on topic, he had a Phil Read replica Honda 750 as his first
bike. Well after a week or so on a 125 to pass the test.

  6. Damn, I hoped I was in at the start of a new one, as I am fairly sure I
was present at the inception of 'numpty'.
As Bod43 says, it has a ring of pithy Clydesider about it.

I too, recall hearing something like it, but it wasn't that actual word.
