are you going to let me know what time you're coming or what?

between 16:00 and 17:00 is ideal for me, but give me a bell and let me
know (I've mislaid your mobile[1] and you're not answering your
    email).

[1] if anyone has Zymurgy's mobile can they email me it, or - better -
    txt me?

    ta.

You got that wrong as well? It does rather smack of carelessness, you know.

Found the **** in the end after risking life and limb on the stopper
train to Enfield town (via such savoury destinations as Bethnal green
    and White Hart lane)

    Thanks for caring ;)

there's no other sort of train to Enfield Town.

BTW, you didn't try and ride off with the disk-lock on, did you?

Nope, you left it in gear. I thought it was turning over sluggishly. I
dropped the clutch in what I thought was neutral.

Thanks for the half tank of fuel BTW, very useful when I accidentally
detoured off down towards Hastings on the A21. Daft really, as I spent
nearly 3 years in that area (Swanlea/Sidcup) so it's not like I don't
know the road system there :)

The grunt of the bike was also useful in the toll gate grand prix at
the Dartford crossing. 17 lanes of traffic converging into 3. Made it
between two artics with seconds to spare !

Ah. Yes, I left it in 1st 'cos it was sloping down my driveway and I
didn't want it lobbing itself off the sidestand.
np - ridden "sensibly" half a tank is >100 miles.
    do be careful.

Nah, he paid me before he collected it (about the only reliable thing
    about him)

On advice on the Triumph Forums, i've got a bigger sprocket for the
front which will drop the revs back 1k or so at cruising speed. Should
make it even more frugal with any luck.

All in all, it's quite a nice bike. Why did you sell it again ? ;)

    Cheers,

    Paul.

It is that. I thought the CCM was tall, but I was tiptoeing when I
went over the dip in the gutter. Would be interesting for the
    vertically challenged.

well, it's obviously not just the height (as my KTM is taller), but
it's the height combined with the high COG and relatively high overall
weight (especially with a full tank) that meant I never felt happy
with it around town. On the open road it's fine, though.

That was my take on the Tiger when I test rode one, prior to buying the R-
GS. The R-GS felt *right* as the boxer engine configuration and shaft drive
lower the C-o-G greatly, in comparison.

Incidentally, the hotel I used in Austria has a fleet of BMW bikes for
hire. I sat on the new F800GS. It feels very light but seems to be much
higher than an R-GS. Getting on/off the thing was a PITA as I struggled to
cock my leg over the luggage rack. I didn't bother to take it out for a
    ride.

it has to be said though, that the Tiger is much faster than the R-GS.

  19. It was the high COG that made it more fun to ride for me. Going round
corners was fun - much more upright than a sportsbike but almost
equally quick (I suspect I was the limiting factor and not the bike).

I sold it because a) I wasn't using it because of pain in my hands and
    b) it was a right pain getting it out of the garage - up a gravel slope
    between two parked cars..

If I get another bike it'll be a small, light one. With a light clutch.
    A *very* light clutch.
