That's the GTM21 - a bit clumsy for a bike. The GTM12 is better. Then
again, maybe you won't use it on the bike.

Is £35 a ballpark price for those?

I assume it plugs into the cradle and one tags the receiver to the
    screen or somesuch.

  6. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Nige
And that has *more* than earned its keep in the last few days, routing
me and the cage around some real nasties.

Mind you the fact that it took me down the M42, underneath a Plodmobile
sitting on a bridge with *something* pointing out of the window, and
didn't go "BING!" may alter my perceptions, we shall see in a couple of
weeks (he said furiously trying to remember if there were any 'camera"
    signs along the route).

Looks like it. I got mine for £25 back in October, but that seller
doesn't seem to be Ebay listed any more. I must admit if buying now,
and looking at the Comet deal, I'd think twice before paying an extra
    £25 to make it bike-friendly.
Yep. Both the bike and car cradles have suitable sockets, although
I've never actaully tried it on the bike.

Apologies for bad form, but my guess is the GTM21 would work on a bike
    - it's just that you'd have this cigar-lighter plug flopping about
getting in the way. The picture here
    https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=203&pID=413
suggests this is the case, anyway.

I bought it for the car really as I couldn't imagine a situation when I
would change my route on the bike because of traffic.

I assume you could cut the cigar lighter plug off and hardwire it in?

    I doubt it.
IIRC The electro wizardry for the TMC is in the cigar plug on that type.
The other model (which I have in the cage) has a big lump in the cable, like
a snake has swallowed a dog or sommat, about 4 inches from where it plugs in
    the mount.
On the bike, GTM 12 would be a better option IMHO as the aerial wire could
    be lost a little easier.
Not tried that model so could be wrong.

If you look at the above pictue (view the larger image), this lead
also has a lump, but smaller. However, the Zumo has been designed to
behave differently according to which cradle (bike or car) it's
mounted in, and trying to push the power in a different way could at
best cock this up and at worst knacker the unit completely. Also,
looking at the picture closely, the plug to go into the Zumo seems (to
my dim eyes anyway) not to match any socket on the bike cradle, which
would make the GTM21 unusable on a bike anyway.
I would strongly advise anyone planning to buy a GTM21 for bike use to
make sure it'll work first. The Zumo forum I pointed Bear at may help.

Just to confirm, I've checked the Zumo forums and the GTM 21 (the one
Comet are advertising for a tenner) will not work in the bike cradle.

I think you could well be 100% right.
Looking at the lead again it is indeedy the car power lead. The bike mount
has a completely different power receptacle.
