Checked tyre pressures, all ok. It was pissing it down all day today & the
front end has felt just 'not right' Any slight imperfections in the road
surface has it tramlining. I havent had chance to have a look at the rear
preload etc yet as it aint stopped raining for two days.

The front else feels kinda loose & imprecise, nowt knocking or loose. I
wonder if the wheels are aligned correctly. The forks feel fine, even under
full on braking, tyres quite worn, but nowt silly (metz) I even got to
wondering if it's very susceptible to wind, as it's very windy here atm.

Maybe i'm used to riding bikes with steering dampers.

It's as if the front wheel doesn't want to do what you know it should do. It
countersteers fine & drops over amazing for such a barge. It just seems on
anything other than perfect flat surfaces it wriggles a bit.

I'll have a fiddle with the rear suspension & check the wheel alignment. The
front forks can't be tinkered with at all i believe?

The large screen is coming off for commuting too, i like to see when i'm
slow speed riding, it just gets bshit up with drops of water that won't ****
    off at 5mph.

I thought so, but it's not that worn, but it is a metzeler old tyre by the
    look of it.

I'll get a sportmax to match the rear thats brand new.

The rear tyre is a D208, surely thats a sports tyre?

For extremely loose values of sports, maybe.

But on a 300kg bike? with a metz rain tyre on the front, can't be good
    surely?

I had D220s (Sportmaxes) on the SV. They were fine. D208s are softer
than D220s, I think, though I'd hesitate to call them sports tyres.

Pretty much any new tyre is better than pretty much any part-worn tyre
and pretty much any part-worn tyre is better than pretty much any
    shagged tyre.

The exception to this is Corsa 3s. Christ I'm glad to be rid of them.
First and only tyres I've ever hated from start to finish.

I have plenty of experience on every kind of bike, it just aint quite right.
Yeah, i reckon i'll just blow out on a decent set, no fucking about. The
bike feels very planted, just that niggle at the front.
    hhhmm, i'll get my coat
    **** that.
Terrible, great at speed, but i can't do with not seeing enough to filter.

I'll sort it, small matter that it will turn out to be.

  9. Mine has always felt planted and in control. I came to the Pan straight
from a 'busa which was well planted, and the Pan felt the same - insofar
as it did what it was told, when it was told to do it.
Sounds worn - wheel bearings OK are they? My money is on either the
tyre, or you being an oversensitive northern jessie.
Wheel alignment? It's not chain driven. No adjustment for that.
Well - they can- but you'd have to take them apart.
    I told you so.

  11. Every kind of bike? I missed the postings about your rocket powered bike.

A set of tyres (or a front) isn't expensive. To be fair, I think mine
always feels best with nice shiny new tyres.
I didn't think you were allowed to use the N word these days.
    For the best old fruit.
Some of the Yanks (who tend to the larger end of the scale) were very
keen on replacing the springs with progressive ones. Until someone told
them that the standards are progressive.
I never got on with the taller screens. Makes the bike look like it
belongs to a 90 year old too.
I'm sure it is - if the wheel bearings are OK and the steering head
bearings, and no lateral or front-back play in the forks (and the forks
are damped -oil in them) then it's got to be you or the tyre.

I upped the rear preload to one down from full, upped the rebound to high &
it's much better, still doesn't like road crowns. The front wheel figyts the
back a bit, but a decent set of tyres might sort it.
