If it's the sensor, a bit over ton from David Silver for a pattern part
(IIRC) and fairly easy to fit. Getting the old one out can be a slight
    challenge.

Simes is your man for this kind of thing.

The sensors come up on ebay every now and then, not sure how much a new
one is. I have a spare you could borrow to try. Mine's currently seized
in the holder to hard to get out, on a newer bike should be pretty
    straight forward.

You could also get him to run the diags here:
http://cain.ulst.ac.uk/st1100/absdiagnostics.htm and see what the ABS
    box reports.....

ps, as per the url I posted, battery terminal corrosion/loose is also a
really common cause of ABS/TCS faults.

Actually, looking again, if the TC's not working and the ABS is, then it
could be the TC switch that's at fault.

If it was the sensor, both would be out.

More than likely fucked connector or cables then.

Wouldn't worry - as long as the ABS is working it can't be too much wrong
as they use the same sensors and circuitry apart from the switch...
Perhaps just wants the switch jiggling a couple of times...

He sorted the TC by sorting the fuses out.

I asked him about the aswingarm & he replied it has been repaired. Any idea
if you can repair them & if they are likely to be any good?

They rot from the inside. They can be welded, if the weld-monkey knows
    what he's doing[1].

Fair to say it's likely fucked then. One has to err on the side of caution.

Are decent 2nd hand ones available at a right price i wonder...

I wouldn't say that - I would echo Nige - if it's been welded properly it
    will be fine.
    No.

249 or 315 quid from Dave Silver brand new. They come up on ebay now and
    then as well.
