    Hi

doing a weekend trip with my wife in a few weeks time (a first on the
bike) - have an oxford tailpack already which is fine but wanted to get
some throwover panniers too. Assume the usual suspects - Oxford, Cargo,
    possibly Triumph own?

Is there anything specific to watch out for? Was reckoning on getting
some from ebay. I wouldn't expect them to be fully waterproof so bin
liners will be a sensible precaution in any event.

What I am wondering about is shape & size of the panniers and
suitability for the Sprint ST & my wife who may reasonably be described
as not long of leg (5'2" in total), my reasoning being that a longer leg
may clear the panniers where a shorter one might not?

Do what we did and get down to someone who stocks them. Hein Gericke
in Newcastle let us try out some Oxford ones before buying. They
turned out to fit perfectly. Pricy, but bloody good kit.

Bin liners, plus supermarket carrier bags containing clothing items. The
transparent shower cap covers that come with them flap to pieces if
subjected to sustained autoroute speeds IME.
I'm still using a pair of Oxford 'lifetime' throwovers I bought in '94.
The adjustment on the mountings has allowed me to use them on a Morini,
Nordwest, Guzzi Mille GT and now the Voxan.

I am 5'2" with short legs and I never had a problem on the back of any
of Owen's bikes with Oxford panniers or BMW luggage, both of which are
quite wide. Climbing on an off is more difficult but reaching the pegs
    is fine.
