Recently Googled something for hwy 120 and came upon a CMR page. When
I clicked on a link about Old Priestly Grade, up popped a page
requiring $20 yr paid subscription for further access. Bummer! Not
to be unexpected, I guess, as he's certainly put in enough time and
effort to make some $$ off it, but unfortunate nonetheless. I haven't
accessed CMR for some time, so just curious when this transformation
    occured.

    Not bummer:

only the forums asked for a registration, and no charge.
    Tim doesn't need the money.
He does the CMR because he loves to ride, and wants to share the good
    roads.
He's doing tours in addition to his job as a mortgage broker for some
    addtional income.

Ooops , you're right. I got two pages down into the site and bonk.
I need to get a hold of that boy and see what gives.
Maybe it's that dam federal reserve raising the rates, no one's
    refinancing....

Did you actually try it? You might want to, as it's a no go for
anything except the "samples" on the home page. Go ahead ...try to
    bring up Hwy 49.

BTW, a large portion of the home page and the FAQ Q tells why it's going
    commercial:

    http://www.pashnit.com/motophoto.htm#sub

Can't begrudge the guy. He's got so much invested he deserves a
little compensation. Plus, like the FAQ says, it's grown so big he's
adding a staff. Hey, the American entrepreneurial spirit and all that.
If Craig can do it, why not ...what's his name? ;)
